Chiropractic FAQS

Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care is very safe. Research has clearly shown that the incidence of injury or unwanted effects using chiropractic care are minimal. Each and every condition is unique and your chiropractor will evaluate you to determine what treatments are best suited for your particular care. Rest assured that at LSM we do everything possible to ensure patient safety.
Treatment length varies greatly depending on condition, however, for an uncomplicated condition LSM's case average is about seven visits.
Anxiety is normal for any new procedure, but we take the time to explain what is needed to make you feel better and why.
LSM will happily file a claim to your auto carrier for payment. In the event you do not have MedPay coverage we can submit claims to an at fault party or the attorney of your choice. However once your claim is complete LSM will require payment for services rendered.
I was in a car accident; Can I get massage for my injury?
When to have massage after an injury is something you should discuss with your LSM Chiropractor. Massage is usually reimbursed from the automobile insurance company if it is necessary to further the healing of the injury. Used with chiropractic, it can be an important tool, but there are some techniques that should be avoided during the healing process. Your LSM Chiropractor can talk to your massage therapist, or recommend one, so that you have personalized care.
There is no such thing as a “minor” car accident. When struck by another vehicle, the energy transfers both to the car and occupants. As a result, your body sustains significant forces that can cause damage to ligaments, muscles and joints. Even a five-mile per hour rear end collision causes the force of falling out of a second-story window. Anyone who has been involved in a car accident should seek chiropractic care as soon as possible. This includes all occupants of the car, including children.
No. Wisconsin has some of the best Worker’s Compensation laws in the country. You have the choice of any practitioner you would like to see, including chiropractic. Chiropractors specialize in musculoskeletal injuries that are common in the workplace. This includes lifting injuries, slips and falls and other assorted sprain-strain type injuries. Early intervention provides the best short-term and long-term results. If injured on-the-job, contact LSM as soon as possible.

Laser Therapy FAQS

How does laser therapy work?
Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is complete.
It does not require the use of drugs or surgery, there are no known side effects, and it is quick/convenient. Studies have shown that it is equal to or more effective than other forms of physical therapy.
There is little or no sensation during treatment and no pain associated during laser application. Treatment is relaxing and some people even fall asleep. There are no negative side effects with laser therapy.
Most people experience positive results in 1 to 3 treatments, with the average course of treatments being 7 to 10 sessions. Swelling is greatly reduced and there is a rapid relief of pain. Acute conditions usually subside quickly, typically within one phase of treatments, while chronic conditions can be controlled with regular treatments. The effects of Laser Therapy are cumulative; therefore; expect to see improvements as you proceed through your treatment plan. It is critical that once you start, you complete the course of treatments recommended by your doctor or symptoms are likely to reoccur.
How long does a treatment take?
The typical course of treatment is 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Treatments are typically received 2 to 3 times a week. Treatment plans are determined on an individual basis.
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. The typical treatment protocol is between 6 and 12 visits. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.
You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the 1 to 3 treatments. For more chronic conditions it may take up to 10-12 visits to feel the benefits of laser therapy. Not everyone responds to laser therapy and results cannot be guaranteed.
MLS Laser Therapy is about healing. It's not about masking or covering up a condition. When you feel better from this therapy... it's because you are better. Therefore results have been found to be quite long lasting.
